COMIC DIARY is basically the best way to practise comics. it will teach you to not to use a million hours at drawing them because you're NOT allowed to sketch or shit like that, just drawing straight with a pen, and also help you practise your style. and if you're intending to publish some day, using an online comicblog is a sure way to make your work more known. I'm not sure if comic blogs are very popular over there but they're sort of gaining popularity over here and all the well known finnish comic artists have a comic blog.

or just come to our school? seriously one year here and I'm suddenly very conscious of what is a good comic and what is not. this american girl was supposed to come here this year but she's not getting an official permit because boarding schools aren't "good" enough, even if this is the best goddamned art/comic-related school in the whole country, I am not exaggerating one bit.

but since you're probably not able to come here, you should post them comics online and seek people who have experience on comics and willing to comment your work and rip you a new one. you need every possible point of view and you can't be the only one to crit yourself because as an artist you have a very shallow view of your own work.

also, just keep drawing every single day.

muura you are always SO HELPFUL ;w;
Do you know of any english comic blog websites? Or maybe I should just make an LJ or something... I've wanted to for a while, but I wasn't sure how helpful it would be. I'LL TRUST YOUR KNOWLEDGE!

and god I want to come there I WANT TO but I also looked into permit business and whatnot and it does look a bit tricky... I'll try my best, though!

How should I go about seeking experienced comickers who won't be annoyed by my asking for their comment? HMM

thanks for all the advice though, SERIOUSLY. what would I do without you~~

I think hammernose: [link] had a bunch of people doing diary form comics and Hannah just recently started doing them as well: [link] they seem to be friends only though. Also Lewis Trondheim has one but it's in french.

I haven't bumped into many people who do this, comic artists need to be encouraged to do this more, it's a really valuable practise! If you can make people enjoy your daily life and are able to make your comics readable even with a simple style, you won't have any problem doing complete stories enjoyable and readable. And yeah, I do them, but in finnish. [link] I'd love to go for the effort of translating it for the sake of my foreign friends but I don't want it to turn into a chore. :( Maybe some day..

But uh yeah you asked for websites, I know Blogger and Blogspot but I have no idea what would be a good place for exposure. I think Livejournal is the most common online medium for blogging, so you should use that.

WHY I FOR EXAMPLE would LOVE to crit comics. ;w; Also I think this site: [link] has a place for posting comics but they have an horrible commenting system (you can't comment unless you're watching with the person) so I don't really support it. I wish I knew a place like conceptart.org, except for comics!
You could also mail someone who does comics professionally or just as a long-time hobby and ask for critique, who knows, they might feel nice and share their wisdom. A lot of them are online, no? And Smackjeeves, does it have critique-forums?

if you'd like, I could also ask my teacher to critique you, he's pretty harsh to everyone except his own students though but I could try butter him up by saying that you totally wanted to come here rofl

I won't pass by a chance to blab about comics rofl c_c
